AIOU admissions are open twice a year, after every six months. They usually open in January and July. AIOU provides all programs from Matric to PhD. Students can apply online as well as by post.

AIOU offers two main semesters every year: Spring and Autumn. Each semester has a separate admission deadline.

Eligibility Criteria for AIOU Admission
The eligibility criteria for AIOU admission depend on the program level. For Matric-level programs, applicants need Middle or 9th-grade completion, with no age limit. Intermediate programs require Matric or equivalent qualifications. Undergraduate programs (BA, BSc, Associate Degrees) need 12 years of education with at least 45% marks, while specific BS programs may require relevant subjects and 45–50% marks.
Postgraduate programs (MA, MSc) require a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 45% marks. B.Ed programs need an ADE or bachelor’s degree with 50% marks. MPhil, MS, and PhD programs require a relevant master’s degree.

To apply to Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) for admission, there are two methods:

Here is the complete procedure to apply online for AIOU admission:
Step 1: Visit AIOU Website
Go to www.aiou.edu.pk and click on “Online Admission System (OAS)” or “Fresh Admission”.
Step 2: Create an Account
Register using your email address to create a profile and set a password.
Step 3: Select Your Program
Choose your program (Matric to PhD) and check eligibility criteria and fees.
Step 4: Fill the Application Form
Complete the form with all personal and academic information.
Step 5: Upload Documents
Scan and upload required documents such as CNIC, previous certificates, and passport-size photos.
Step 6: Pay Fees
Generate a fee challan or pay online using a debit/credit card or online banking.
Step 7: Submit Application
Submit the form before the admission deadline for Spring (Jan–Mar) or Autumn (Jul–Sep).
Apply Manually for AIOU Admission
Here is the process to apply manually for AIOU admission:
- Purchase a prospectus from your nearest AIOU regional office or sales point.
- Fill the admission form attached at the end of the prospectus.
- Attach attested documents and passport-size photos.
- Submit the form with the bank deposit slip either at the regional office or by post to the following address:
